Trouble in Paradise?

Full-time RVing isn’t all fun and games. A lot of it is, but not all of it. We were supposed to be in Colorado on April 27th. That didn’t happen. Instead, we had a day of something other than fun and games.

In one of my posts, I mentioned how ‘special’ RV toilets are. Wipes and thick toilet paper are a BIG no-no. So I asked my husband to put a bidet in each bathroom. He put one in our main bathroom, and the next morning we woke to a leak. We were supposed to leave the next day. Jay spent eight hours repairing it. He’s not a plumber, although our neighbor where we were staying is, and he did help a little. Jay was wiped out, and we just couldn’t do that long travel day. We put things off and arrived a day later. So here we are. Home. Colorado will always be home to us.

We are both from Colorado. Jay was born and raised in Denver, and I moved here when I was around six years old. My dad was in the Army for twenty-three years, and after he was shot in Vietnam, he retired, and we stayed in Colorado. We lived in a suburb of Denver, called Aurora, until I was in fifth grade, when we moved to Byers, Colorado for a year. At the end of that school year, we moved to Strasburg, Colorado, where I grew up. I consider Strasburg my hometown. I met my best friend of fifty years, Laurie, there. She recently passed away from colon cancer. Readers, please have your colonoscopies every year as soon as you should. Had she gotten hers, she would likely still be here today. I miss her every single day.

Our RV is parked in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The mountains are on the western side of the state, so it’s easy to know which direction you’re headed. I LOVE the beauty of this state.

My husband has family in the area, and his best friend lives here. He and Art are riding their bicycles daily to build strength for a cross-country trip at the end of July. We wives will follow – or lead the way – in the RV and pick them up when they wear out.

The last two days, we’ve had rain. The guys took yesterday, Sunday, off, and today they were planning to use some weights and play disc golf to work on upper body strength. As much rain as we’re having, Jay will either be very wet or come home having lifted weights all day. We’ll see what he reports.

I finished decorating my front area with our rugs and such. Here’s a picture of how that turned out:

The lanterns are solar. I had to put rocks all over the rugs to keep them in place. It’s been windy for several days now. Those rocks out of place are courtesy of my slightly clumsy husband! It’s okay, he knows he is. LOL. And with the rain, I brought in the “Trap Door.” It’s not that well-made, but I love it! So to keep it in good shape, it’s inside until the rain eases up.
