Day 70 – Friday Ride and On The Road Again for Jay and Kerri Saturday!

Today, Our Hero rode fifty miles. Art rode 2,920 feet in elevation over hills today. There were fewer hills than he had been riding, but they were bigger and longer than previously. He’s getting worn out, Dear Readers. Certainly, he’ll finish this amazing journey, a once-in-a-lifetime event for anyone, let alone a 65-year-old man. He would never give up. But he is tired, and he now has valid concerns about wildlife when near waterways – alligators. Please keep him in your prayers.

Part of this exhaustion can be seen in his lack of photos. I only have two to share with you today. This one shows a good shoulder to ride on, but Art says this is typical scenery on all these back roads he is riding for safety:

And he rode on this interesting route on Highway 27:

Here’s a little tidbit about it:

Highway 27 in Georgia is considered the forty-fourth most feared road trip in the United States. It runs around 355 miles from Tennessee into Florida and passes through rural farmlands and urban areas. Well, Art made it fine today, so no worries. But let’s keep his safety in mind.

Tomorrow morning, Jay and I plan to head out around 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. We’ll be driving approximately four hundred miles. That’s why we have to get going early. Our first stop will be at the Salina, Kansas Municipal Golf Course for one night. Next, we’ll drive to a full hookup spot for one night. You can read this to mean laundry will be done. LOL. Then, to a Boondocker’s Welcome in Indiana, and then to our spot for two weeks in Pennsylvania, where I will be visiting my brother, Kim, and his family.

I’ll grab photos as we go, but probably be unable to post for at least a couple of days. I’ll do my best, Dear Readers. Hang in there!

Next Up: You’ll have to be patient! 😉

  1. The monument you posted is the Augusta Confederate Monument (also known as the Richmond County Confederate Monument) located in downtown Augusta, Georgia (700 block of Broad Street, Augusta, GA 30901).  Kerri, i found the monument in ChatGPT (AI) it’s in Georgia.

    1. Hi Ron, Thank you! We knew he was in Georgia, just teasing that he rode the wrong way. I guessed from the statues that it was a Civil War monument, so I’m glad I was right about that. Thank you for following up on it for me. I was running out of time to do any research as we were heading to Pennsylvania to see one of my brothers. Took us 4 days, but we got in tonight. Have a wonderful evening!

  2. I hope you’re having a great time with your family and enjoying those beautiful frog colors that we don’t get enough of in Colorado.
