Day Eleven – Art Rides Like The Wind

We didn’t have good Wi-Fi at Sprague Motel and RV Park. There were too many trees in our spot for my Starlink to work, but they did offer Wi-Fi, which we used for some entertainment. It kept cutting out every so often, so I chose not to try to blog. I have to be honest, I’m not sure if that was them or our connections, which get the heck shook out of them regularly! Today is catch-up day. Sprague Motel and RV Park is a small park in a small town, but it’s clear that the couple who owns or manages it is working hard to make good improvements. They are growing grass and keeping sites tidy.

Art, our biking hero, headed out (sadly, Jay did not take a photo, again) and rode a total of sixty-eight miles! He started in Cle Elum at the Whispering Pines RV Park and rode all the way to Sprague. If you look at the map, you see the miles between these two places is NOT sixty-eight. But by bike path, it is. He really made great time! It should have only been fifty-eight miles, but after a “rock road,” he’d had enough and switched to a paved road for the remainder of his ride.

Here is the darn rock path:

On the plus side, there were these gorgeous rock formations along the way. Check out this big rock on an old railroad track:

We have two more photos of rock formations here, and look at that blue sky!

This has a fence with construction equipment behind it. But focus on the rock formations, okay?

The toughest part about his ride were these constant hills. I left the photo large so it’s easier to see. They are rolling hills, but Art said he doesn’t feel like he ever went downhill – or at least not much.

At one point in the ride, he passed a beautiful park and got a cooling spray of water:

The man is a marvel! He’s doing an amazing job for a sixty-five-year-old guy, and I hope you all keep reading about this adventure. And I hope you stay with us in the future and read about our continuing travels when this bike ride comes to an end, hopefully in the Florida Keys!

Next up: Day Twelve…

  1. Art, found your blog. Looks like you’re having “fun”. My communing with nature was weed eating my back yard. I can now see my dog! Post some more pictures of anything that’s points of interest. Tim Fyock
