And so it Begins

Eight months ago, we bought a 42-foot 5th wheel. It’s a Keystone Montana with a rear kitchen. I love it…so far. But let me start from the beginning.

My husband, Jay, was a truck driver for 36 years. And a certified trainer of new drivers for six of those years. Yep, he was gone a lot at different points in our 30-year marriage, but he loved his job and he made a good living for us most of his career. He always teased me about becoming a driver, too, so we could team drive. My response?

“No way! I’d kill you being with you all the time!” And we laughed but I saw fear in that man’s eyes (wink). Besides, I liked my home. I was a hermit when I wasn’t working. I wrote stories in my spare time and did some crafts. I worked until 2018. I would NEVER want to be on the road. To leave my nest. To not have my “home base.”

Four years ago, I started watching some full-time RVers. I think I ran across them by accident. But I was captivated! Might I suggest “Happily Ever Hanks,” our first couple and the one we enjoy the most? You will love these two! I watched only their YouTube channel for a while. I enjoyed them so much, I decided to watch a few others. “Changing Lanes,” “Grateful Glampers,” and “Today is Someday,” were the ones I chose. Each has something helpful and interesting to offer. Most have been traveling full-time in their RVs for many years. And they all have great tips they pass on to others. After several months, at least six, I mentioned it to Jay. He almost fell off his chair!

“Why?” That was all he could think to say. “Why?”

“Well, start watching with me. They are really awesome,” I suggested. So we did. I started adding YouTube videos about different RVs, too. I immediately knew a “small” one wouldn’t do. I had to have some space, a place to step away. When you’ve been together as long as we have, you realize where your tolerance level sits. Don’t get me wrong, I love my husband with all my heart. He is the love of my life. But I know I need some space here and there. I read up on the best RVs in the industry. Do your research. It will make all the difference in the world.

And that is the beginning of this story. Boy, do I have some stuff to share! I hope you’ll pop back and keep reading about our adventures. And an explanation of the title of my blog. Hope to see you soon!

    1. Thank you! Please do keep coming to visit. If you didn’t see it, there are two posts. The first is titled “And so it Begins.” I’m still working on getting that set up correctly. It’s giving me a bit of a fit.
