Today, Our Hero rode seventy-nine miles. It was very flat, so he only gained about 500 feet in elevation. And he had an eleven to seventeen-mile tailwind from the North. It made for an easy ride, and he averaged about fifteen mph. His views were of sugar cane fields and refineries.
And he’s off:

Lake Jackson:

And in Art’s Dad Joke fashion, he asked, “Orange you going to ask me how it’s going?” because of this orange grove he passed. LOL:

This shows the nice tailwind he had helping him along today:

Here is a photo of the end of a growing cycle for the orange groves:

And this is the beginning, which seems so odd that they are cut back this far:

Our Hero can’t let a Dad joke opportunity pass, so he asked, “Orange you doing well?” Good grief, this man! LOL.
This is Fish Eating Creek, and that sounds like the worst possible name to me:

And another photo. Have you ever seen a body of water referred to as a creek this large in Colorado? I have not:

Look at all the palm trees:

This I find very cool – Blue and white cranes. The Blue cranes are the brownish-looking birds in the photo, but they are actually a bluish color:

The Caloosahatchee Canal that feeds into the Okeechobee Lake:

Sugarcane is grown all over this area of the state:

And then this Highway designation:
