Our Hero continues his ride to the goal of the Atlantic Ocean. Reaching Florida was a major milestone! On this day, Tuesday, Art rode in misty rain at a cool sixty-two degrees. Expecting it to burn off, when it didn’t, he realized he was no longer in Colorado. I wondered when he might recognize that fact! 🙂 He did make sixty-eight miles, which he said was “in the right direction” – LOL. It was pretty flat, so he only gained 529 feet in elevation on hills. How did he caption his photo to me? “Play Misty For Me.” LOL:

He saw some color along the way in this very green state:

Lots of small rivers or creeks and ponds along the way. This was called the Fenhalloway River:

He took another photo of a pond:

This is the Suwannee River, which begins in Georgia, flows through Florida, and empties into the Gulf:

And this algae-laden creek:

This is a photo of Otter Creek, to which Jay replied, “There otter be crocs.” Art replied, “Haha. Nope, and no otters either.” These two think they are so hilarious!:

Our Hero said he could hardly tell the difference between the road surface and the rumble strip. The bell on his bike rang constantly! That surface looks pretty rough. I’m thinking of a disco song by Anita Ward from 1979, Ring My Bell:

On this trip, his bike tires have held out until today. He had a flat tire going through a construction zone. He struggled to remove the axle on his recumbent bike, but finally did and was able to change it. He noticed his tread wear is one-sided due to the slope of the gutters on the back wheel. The front tire is still in good shape. He’s managed about 3,900 miles on that tire. That’s pretty good!
Next Up: Day 80 – Wednesday – A Sea Forest? And More Water…

the road smoothed somewhat, but is always rough at the driveways and intersections. Not sure why, other than maybe they let traffic on it to soon from the side and the people speeding up to get into traffic spun some gravel off after they placed the chip seal.
