Dear Readers, Our Hero is only one state away from Florida. But we have set dates to meet there for some fun together, so I suspect Art and Cindy will do a little more sightseeing. And I hope they do! This trip should be fun, too. Not all hard, exhausting work.
Art rode sixty-seven miles today. And he reports he had zero gator sightings. That’s a good thing!
This photo shows the typical back road scenery he passed regularly:

Here we see the Etowah River:

Our Hero mentioned lots of creeks and trees everywhere. I’m thinking he’s lucky he didn’t see any gators with all that water! But he did make it to Rome…

Rome, Georgia, that is. In his typical dad joke fashion, his text said, “Funny, I don’t remember crossing the ocean.”
These were all the photos for today, so a quick update about the toe diabolical experience debacle. Yes, it sometimes felt diabolical, though that was at the time. A new antibiotic, everything is healing, and the swelling has diminished. I can wear a shoe without wrapping protective products on my foot, and, for the most part, there is little to no pain. That’s why we were able to leave Utah. We’re heading to visit Jay’s sister-in-law, Carol. She is the widow of Jay’s brother John, who was killed four years ago while riding his bicycle in Colorado Springs by an inattentive driver. Horribly, although the driver admitted he was distracted by his phone and his special needs child in the back seat, no charges were pressed. I guess it’s all about who you know. A shameful face for the Colorado Springs Police Department.
I grabbed a couple of photos while we were driving to Colorado from Utah. This was outside Layton, Utah:

Our dogs travel pretty well. Here’s Tristan snoozing half on my lap and half in his dog bed:

And Sophie is in her new dog bed, so I don’t have to hold her constantly. She loves looking forward, but snuggles in when she gets sleepy:

Some interesting rock faces:

The morning after we slept at a rest area in Wyoming, we woke up to this fog:

The rain cleared about halfway into northern Colorado. We head out toward Pennsylvania on Saturday morning.
