Day 56 – Historic Beardstown and Clayville

Our Hero started his day off as every day he has ridden – ready and with a smile on his face! Today was no different, but we only got to see the back of him. LOL. He did make it seventy-six miles, though:

Of course, Illinois is the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln, our sixteenth President of the United States, and was the leader/President who helped free the slaves. He also set up reparation for them – a fact few are aware of. Through the Freedman’s Bureau in 1865, every former male slave was given 40 acres and a mule, plus food, clothing, and farm tools for seven years until 1873, when the Democrats voted to end it. When Cindy went to City Hall, she saw this:
