We’re staying in Layton, Utah, at the moment. That’s as close as we could get to Tooele, where our medical doctors are. It’s a good hour and a half drive to and from, but we had to come back to Utah for my medical care after Missoula Bone and Joint in Montana were completely negligent in my follow-up care, causing me the loss of my entire second toe on my right foot. This second surgery in Utah went beautifully. My doctor is closely monitoring the healing process. While the issue was NOT caused by diabetes, the healing process is slowed by that disease, which runs rampant in my family. We are hoping to be released into the wild, so to speak, in a couple of more weeks! And because it’s taking so long, we don’t know where we are heading.
I have a brother and nieces (as well as great-nephews and a great-niece) in Pennsylvania, a publisher friend, and a couple of writer friends, too. I would love to go there when we are released, but we need to ensure we have time to enjoy a visit, not rush one, and still make it to Florida in time to meet Art and Cindy at the end point. We already have our reservations for Florida, and we’ll be spending a week there. One of our adventures will be going to Universal Studios. As a published author, I’m a huge fan of J. K. Rowling and the Harry Potter series. This author brought so many kids to read books! She deserves credit for that as much as for writing an incredible series. I’m excited to spend time in the Harry Potter portion of Universal Studios!
We’ve had some stormy weather during our stay. The fog sitting on the mountain tops was cool looking:

Another storm photo, but the sun is fighting its way through:

We’re surrounded, almost, by mountains:

Immediately before you enter the RV Park, which is basically right in Layton, you pass a small farm-ish home with horses and sheep. Those sheep have been elusive since I’ve wanted to grab a photo of them, so just horses this time:

These photos are from Tooele, which is located on the southern tip of the Great Salt Lake. This is referred to as Black Rock. It was once underwater, before the drought that has been an issue in the Western United States for a least the last ten years. Someone placed an American flag on it following the Charlie Kirk assassination:

Here is a daytime photo of the Deseret Peak Temple. I love the backdrop of the mountains:

A photo of our Sophie in her favorite place to sleep:

And two of our boy, Tristan. That’s actually Sophie’s dog bed, but he likes to curl up in it:

And a cooling nap on the floor. That’s a piece of his rawhide bone:

Next Up: I’m looking for something for us to do in the Layton area – that I can manage wearing a surgical boot. And we’ve got to groom Sophie ourselves. The prices here are crazy! It will be a surprise for all of us!
