Day 51 – Saturday’s Ride

Our Hero continued riding strong, reaching a total of eighty-eight miles today! Oddly, his information showed he had climbed around 2700 feet, but the elevation to the city he rode to was 256 feet lower. Really weird, but I assure you, he hit a lot of hills today! This photo shows how the uphill just seems to keep going:

At least there is a large, safe shoulder to ride on. That’s always a plus! And another shot of what seems to be uphill riding only. Art estimates between thirty-five and forty hills he had to ride today:

But there were some really cool sights to see. For example, this house that was once a Phillips 66 gas station:

How cool would it be to live in a place like that? Historic and awesome! And then he spotted this house with a pioneer wagon in front of it. I’m always amazed at how small these wagons truly were:

Another cool looking house. I love the birdbath, too! This was a tough day of riding for Our Hero, so the photos were on the low side. That’s okay. Tomorrow I have some photos I took in Tooele, Utah, where I saw my podiatrist and had surgery. After the surgery, it was dark, and I hadn’t eaten all day, so we grabbed some food, and just before 9 p.m., we parked near the ‘newish’ Desert Peak Temple. What a peaceful feeling it gave me after a tough experience. So watch for that in tomorrow’s post!
