A beautiful Tuesday, and Our Hero made it eighty-eight miles today! However, this wasn’t going to be an easy day. He ran right into construction:

He did get to cross a new body of water, the Loop Power Canal:

And this photo from the bridge:

Remember when I mentioned Jay and Art had a second love? It’s called Disc Golf, and Art passed a course. I’m sure he wished Jay were along so they could stop to play:

Every state has something historical in it. Nebraska also has this one, The Great Platte River Route West. I love history, so all these stops Art makes are exciting to me:

And now, the information you’ve really been waiting for…What? A cop?
Let’s start by making it clear, Our Hero was not speeding. LOL. He obeys the law…for the most part. 😉
He was stopped, tending to a bloody nose. The air in the western United States is quite dry. I advised that he use Aquaphor in his nose day and night to help with this, but it’s still apt to happen. While he was tending to this issue, a nice, young highway patrolman stopped by to check on him. They had a nice conversation, and once assured Art was okay, he left. That’s wonderful, knowing that the officer was concerned for him and wanted to ensure he was safe.
A quick update about us – We’re still in Layton, Utah. I had my toe surgery, which sadly meant the loss of my entire toe. The surgery I had in Missoula, Montana, was completely botched. They didn’t take a culture, so they were not treating the appropriate infection. It simply kept getting worse. Yesterday was the first time I saw the surgical wound since my doctor here in Utah, Dr. David McKenzie, helped me. The surgical wound looks great. I cried a bit. I had prepared myself long ago for a partial toe removal, but I wasn’t ready to see the full toe gone, even though I knew beforehand this would be what he was going to have to do. Dr. McKenzie explained that it was our only choice. The incorrect treatment allowed the infection to enter the bone. I know we’re taught our bodies are temples, but mine seems to be the great betrayer. I have kept my blood sugars in check for years now. Likewise, I strive to be healthy overall. And still, due to arthritis, my toe curled, and this happened. It is what it is, though, and life goes on. Take care of yourselves, Dear Readers. If a doctor doesn’t seem to be advising you correctly, don’t delay! Find another. Be proactive in your care.
