Day 41 – Deux – Our Hero Goes…

Our Hero rode this lovely Wednesday for a disputed mileage based on his GPS vs state mile markers. While his GPS said he rode seventy-one and a half miles, we’ll call this seventy-two, the mile markers placed it at seventy-six. Of course, he wants to record based on the lower mileage, but I think it’s only fair to post them both. And you, Dear Readers, get to decide.

This ride had its challenges as Art was riding into a strong headwind. He felt as though he was barely moving forward, even going downhill! That’s some strong wind! The landscape was one of rolling hills for miles and miles:

That wind resulted in this rare photo of an unsmiling Art:

Never fear, Our Hero always perseveres. He has to if he wants to make this dream a reality. And he is definitely doing that! As a music lover, this photo makes me think of the song, Blue Skies by Ella Fitzgerald:

I’m not a fan of photos with signs of human existence in them – LOL – but I couldn’t cut out the blue sky or the interesting hills along Art’s way:

Another plateau:

And check out those white cliffs beyond:

These are similar to the ones above:

A climb ahead, but the path is good, and Art made it up with no problem:

Normally, this view would be a “weeeeee” moment. But with that headwind, it’s not going to go that fast:

Here we can clearly see the rolling hills he traversed:

A couple of posts ago, I mentioned that South Dakota was one of my favorite places to visit – well, Custer State Park. These photos don’t show that beauty. And though Jay and I have been sidelined with my second toe surgery taking place today, we will be visiting there again.

Dear Readers, this country is filled with beautiful places that can fill your soul and put you in touch with your innermost thoughts, hopes, and dreams. It is my hope you have a chance to visit some of the areas we share with you. And if you are unable to, I hope this blog brings you close enough that it fills your soul with what you need.

And thank you for supporting me, too! I write because I LOVE to. Not just blogging, but poetry, short stories, and drabbles. And a novel I’ve been working on for around one hundred fifty years – LOL. I have an Amazon Author Page where you can find all my anthologies that contain poems, short stories, and drabbles (exactly 100-word stories) here:

https://www.amazon.com/author/kerrijesmer

If you don’t like Amazon, I’m also on Goodreads here:

And for a freebie story I wrote years ago, War From the View of Mother Earth, on Spillwords:

My Amazon page is more updated than Goodreads, but while I’m recovering from the toe debacle, I’ll be updating both sites soon.
