Day 39 – Monday, Monday

Monday. A new week, new challenges, new achievements. What did Our Hero do today? He rode a total of seventy-seven miles and landed in Rapid City, South Dakota! That is very near “The Heads,” better known as Mount Rushmore. LOL. And Custer State Park, which is one of my favorite State Parks. I’ve taken several trips there and loved it every single time! Is this currently homebound gal still dreaming of making it to South Dakota? You bet I am!

In the meantime, let’s take a look at what Art got to see on this lovely ride through South Dakota. Art rode the Mickelson Trail and said it was one of the best bike trails he’s ridden so far. A single park ranger services the entire one hundred and nine miles and has done a fabulous job. Art thinks he should get a raise! I told him I bet he’s a bike rider, too. He had the opportunity to meet him and said he was a great guy. He got to the gate before Art did, opened it, and held it for him until he passed. Earlier in the ride, the guy had pulled over to let Art pass him, too. That was an awesome experience!

Here are some of the photos he took. Look at the rock formations built up around the road! So cool:

The historic sign about the Cheyenne and Deadwood Stage Route used in the late 1800s:

And this one all about the railroads and how it changed life here for the better. Of course, it did that all over the U.S.:

This historic gold mine along the Mickelson Trail:

More about historic mining in the area:

And more about the creation of good roads for the area:

Now some photos of the Mickelson Trail that Art enjoyed riding so much. Wow, beautiful:

Now Art is in the area of South Dakota that shines with all its glory:

What a cool rock formation, seemingly shooting skyward from the ground:

Dear Readers, I hope you are enjoying traveling with Art on this journey. Soon, Jay and I will be back to our own travels, too, with plans to meet up with Art and Cindy for an adventure in Florida at Universal Studios, if not before. Can you say Harry Potter? J. K. Rowling taught a generation of kids to love books, and I was one of the grown-ups to fall in love with the series. I’m excited!

And thank you for supporting me, too! I write because I LOVE to. Not just blogging, but poetry, short stories, and drabbles. And a novel I’ve been working on for around one hundred fifty years – LOL. I have an Amazon Author Page where you can find all my anthologies that contain poems, short stories, and drabbles (exactly 100-word stories) here:

https://www.amazon.com/author/kerrijesmer

If you don’t like Amazon, I’m also on Goodreads here:

My Amazon page is more updated than Goodreads, but while I’m recovering from the toe debacle, I’ll be updating both sites soon.

Next Up: Day 40!!! What a milestone!
