We left our last site yesterday and landed at Ruby’s Resort and RV at Medicine Lake, Washington. It’s only about fifteen minutes outside of Spokane, Washington. It is the oldest RV park in the State of Washington. On the way, we saw lots of trees:

These were taken from our truck. Here is another:

I’m amazed by the forest-type trees, pines mostly, along the way to the prairie part of Washington. We landed here:

This is Medicine Lake, where we are parked, to the right when standing at the dock:

And the center from the dock:

And then to the left. It’s a big lake!:

It is pretty here. Unfortunately, there are only a few spots with sewer hookups. Those are given to long-term RVers, which we are not. That’s due to the closeness of the lake to the Park. There are concerns about leaks, so no sewers in those areas. We have to use the showers here, which cost $.50 per minute. It’s ridiculous! I did all the laundry ahead of time, as we can’t use our own washer and dryer without sewer connections. The sewer hookups keep the black (poo) and gray (dirty water, like from the sinks) tanks empty. They have a pay laundry here, but it’s pricey, too. That has been a disappointment. This is my home. I want to be able to live in it like a home. And we are here for three days. If it were one, that wouldn’t be so bad.
If we have to boondock (camp with no water, power, or sewer), I prefer it’s only one day before we move to full hookups. It’s tough to keep up with dishes, cleaning, and laundry when you have days you can’t use what others rely on in a regular home – water, electricity, and sewer. The trade-off? This exciting and free lifestyle.
Here is another photo of our rig. Notice the bikes on the back:

And this lovely tree that is slightly behind our site:

You can see a worker in the background working on watering the grass around the park. He’s been out there all day changing them around.
Here are our non-human companions – Klaus and Violet Hurst (named from the Lemony Snicket books by Daniel Handler), and Tristan and Sophie Jesmer. Notice how “Li’l Bit” (Sophie) takes the biggest dog bed for her littlest body:

The Hurst babies sure miss their mama! They’ll be so happy to see her tomorrow night. And my two will be happy that I can give them a little more attention. I’ve focused a lot on Klaus and Violet because they aren’t used to traveling, and their mom is not here. Klausy is a needy, anxious boy, too. Friday will be a great reunion for Art and the dogs!
Next Up: Day 15 – Jay took the Truck in for Break Work, and Mama Hurst is back!
