To Be Honest, Bikes and Dogs

I have to be honest, I’m not sure how much I’ll have to write about until I have my heart surgery. I’m limited in what I can do. However, we have still planned a few trips. I won’t be doing any hiking or going to very high elevations. One thing we did last Saturday that left me exhausted was visit a flea market. What a waste of time. If you’re looking for a neighborhood garage sale with a few handcrafted jewelry items, go enjoy yourself. We did, however, pick up a farm-fresh watermelon that was so sweet and juicy, we had the whole thing gone in three days. Well, Jay ate his in two, but I couldn’t get it all down quite that fast. They had other fruits, but we skipped on those. Jay found three small tools he could use on his upcoming bike ride, too. Today, after a twenty-mile ride, he’s cleaning up and truing his bike. Two days ago, he rode forty-one miles. He’s getting better.

He’s ridden bikes his whole life, so he’s good at working on them and keeping them in good shape. My bike sits sadly alone until after the heart surgery:

But when that’s done, I’m hopping on that baby! It’s an electric bike. I may purchase a pet “wagon” to attach to it and take our dogs on short rides when we travel. We’ll have to see how they handle it. I know our little one, Sophie, will:

Isn’t she adorable!!! But I’m not sure our big boy will. The problem is, I’m not great at balancing anymore. I’m a bit up there in age, after all. I’m not sure Tristan won’t take me down. He’s a big boy who likes to squish on the little dog bed belonging to his sister:

Isn’t he precious, though!

It might sound silly, but I’m considering adult training wheels for my bike. I could ride longer and wouldn’t have to worry if Tristan wanted to run part of the way. It’s not like I ride very fast. We’ll have to see what I can find.

Next Up: I’m hoping to go to the local Fireman’s Memorial Park.
