Too Long Gone

I apologize for not posting in a while. We are parked in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Readers, we have had a time of it. We had a huge tax bill to pay this year, which I’ll keep private, and then some major repairs needed on our RV. Yep, that’s part of the full-time RV life. Your RV will likely require some major repairs from time to time. And it can be painful. We’re also having to reserve and pay for spaces in preparation for the bike ride across country. On top of all that, I think I’ll need a visit to a heart doctor. Ultimately, I believe the breathing issues I’m experiencing are related to my heart more than my paralyzed vocal cords. And more distressing, we’re very concerned about Jay’s health. His balance is an issue. I posted earlier that he is no longer riding a recumbent bicycle, which we have up for sale, and is now on a road bike for this trip. Ultimately, I believe he’ll manage to make this trip. But he’s worried. In addition, he is dealing with a bit of fear as his older brother was killed while riding his bike here in Colorado Springs four years ago at the age of seventy. A driver who admitted he was not paying attention as he was on his phone and distracted by his special needs child in the back seat, hit John. Despite doing all he could to be seen – a reflective vest and bright lights on his bike – the driver still hit him. He was brain-dead, and my poor sister-in-law had to make the heart-wrenching decision to shut off the machine keeping his body alive. Of course, that is always at the forefront of Jay’s thoughts when he heads out on his bike.

So, Readers, I will try to fill up some posts this week and into the next. We’re going to start doing some additional activities while we are here. Colorado, in general, and especially Colorado Springs, has some wonderful activities. I hope we’re able to enjoy them all before we leave.
