You know how everyone says things about the state they live in? For instance, I hear people say all the time, “Don’t like the weather, stick around a few minutes, and it will change!” And everyone laughs. Okay, some people laugh. But it is said about so many different states! The one I like for Colorado:

There is also a saying that there are only two seasons in Colorado. From mid-September to mid-May is winter, and the rest of the time is called Construction. Honestly, construction happens year-round due to the many days of sunshine we have. You can have a blizzard one day, and the sun is out melting it away the next. All over the place right now, it looks like this:

A ditch full of water is running along the street here. And the other side of this overpass that is being built:

The cold weather is hard on roads, so it’s not uncommon to see constant construction. That, and this state continues to grow in population. They engineer new roadways to ease the traffic congestion.
I love this state. I’ve spent most of my life here, and it honestly saddens me to see so many people moving here all the time. You can’t find secluded places in the mountains anymore unless you can hike into the backcountry. Still, I love Colorado, and it will always be ‘home’ to us.
