Yep, we returned to Louisiana for Mardi Gras after a month in Utah. It was the first time for both of us. My nephews had both attended LSU (Louisiana State University), which is about an hour and a half away from New Orleans in Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana. Naturally, the college kids head to New Orleans to party, especially for Mardi Gras. Both my nephews advised they didn’t think my non-drinking husband and I would enjoy it much. He said it smelled like beer and urine during Mardi Gras. So we chose Lake Charles, Louisiana. We are still here as I write this. What a beautiful place! We are staying at Osprey Lake, a gorgeous RV park. This is what we get to look at every day:

This is Osprey Lake. We’ve seen some beautiful birds. My oldest brother, Kevin, has always loved birds and knows them well, so I asked him what we were seeing and he was able to tell me what they were. We saw brown pelicans and Egrets, the latter being white, long-necked birds that he said are often called Cattle Egrets because they will sit on the backs of cows and eat the bugs off them. It was interesting but they were all at a distance, so I didn’t get a good photo of them. They stayed on the far side of the lake where there were some logs and a small sandy island. This was the best I could do for a picture of the Egret and it’s a truly horrible picture! LOL

These two signs also stand in front of the lake, but we never saw any evidence of these animals:

But we came to play!! Next up: Mardi Gras
