Back to Utah…in the Snow

Yes, it was terrible weather on our way back to Utah, where we have our storage unit and obtain our medical care. We had appointments, so we had to go. And sure enough, US Highway 287 was closed down in Southeastern Colorado. We were heading to Loveland intending to stay just one night to pick up our StarLink that had been delivered late, but ended up needing to stay for a couple of days waiting for the weather to clear up before continuing on to Utah. Wind and blowing snow make for dangerous roads. It was icy, with limited vision and black ice. We waited behind many semi-trucks for four hours before it reopened. The plus side of this was we just had to open our RV to go to the bathroom as everything was closed in White Horse, CO. While it doesn’t look bad from this picture, outside of the town on the open plains, the blowing wind was causing dangerous conditions. Many Interstates and Highways on the plains have metal blockade bars pulled across the road so you cannot pass through when these conditions are present.

We were not the only non-professional drivers waiting out the storm.

In Wyoming, we hit additional snowy weather that slowed us down, sometimes only traveling at thirty miles per hour. We did not reach our next destination until the following day.

I did have a little fun with being here and took a couple of pictures of our dogs with the “gators” they caught. The first one is our little one, Sophie. She’s a Bichon Frise and fifteen years old:

Next is our baby boy, Tristan. He is eleven years old and we’ve had him since he was around one year. He is a white German Shepherd mix:

I posted on my Facebook that they had each caught an alligator. One of my writer friends asked if these were real and mentioned she didn’t realize how green they were. Laughing with kindness, I explained they were doggie cookies. LOL.

We took care of what we needed to in Utah and a month later, we were on our way again!! Next up: Party Time!
