Arriving in Louisiana was exciting. My sweet nephew, who called me Aunt Caw when he was little, was getting married! He was the ring bearer at my wedding in 1994 and I have a couple of pictures of him on my lap. We were very close then. At his wedding, I asked him to do a retake with me. So here they are:

He’s adorable then and now, isn’t he!! We had such a wonderful time at the wedding and his beautiful bride is the perfect person for him. They were meant to be. Here is a family picture of our side of the couple’s family:

In the center, of course, are the handsome groom and beautiful bride, Bezhan and Carly. Going to the left are my sister, Kandi, my brother-in-law, Javad, my semi-sister, Judy, me, my husband, Jay, and Javad’s nephew, Ozhan. On the right side beside Carly is Javad’s sister, Nahid (I love her so much!), Shayon’s girlfriend, Jasmine, my other nephew, Shayon, Javad’s niece, Denna, my brother, Kevin, and Ozhan’s husband, Sam.
It was so wonderful to be with family, and living and traveling full-time in our 5th wheel has made that possible for any event that comes up. Now I’m hoping to soon come to another wedding to add a niece to our family! Not too long, I think. I am so blessed to have this family!
I guess I should explain the ‘semi-sister’ comment. Judy was Kandi’s college roommate and we basically adopted her into our family. My brother, Kevin, coined the title, semi-sister. All these years later, she is as much a sister to us all as our birth sisters. My sister, Vicki, passed away in March of 2015 at age sixty-two. That was a miracle in and of itself as she was a severe asthmatic and my parents had been told since she was eighteen months old that she would not live to be 2, then 5, then 10, etc. But against all odds, she outlived both my parents and left us at age sixty-two. She was an incredible teacher (both special education and elementary) and the oldest of us all. Rest in peace, Vicki.
